What is Breathalyzer Calibration?

Most breathalyzers no matter the make or model need to be calibrated eventually to keep the device producing accurate and consistent results. The calibration process in a sense is a refresh or similar to pushing the restart button on a computer. This type of calibration requires a cleaning and adjustment to the software and sensor inside your breathalyzer unit. These sensors can become saturated after many repeated uses and can slowly begin to skew your readings, making your device inaccurate and basically worthless.

How often should I get my breathalyzer calibrated?

All breathalyzers sold by GS Solutions LLC are pre-calibrated before they are shipped to you so no calibration is needed right after purchase. Depending on the amount of use your breathalyzer gets you may need to have it calibrated between every 1-12 months. We recommend that users who do testing on a daily basis send in for monthly calibration. For those who do not use it daily but a few times monthly we recommend every 6 months. We recommend anything used less than that to be checked and calibrated every 12 months to keep the accuracy of your alcohol tester. If your device is used correctly according to the manufacturer’s directions and calibrated appropriately then you greatly increase the useful life of your breath tester.
